Record books, diaries, historical notes, photos, maps, programs, clippings and other material pertaining to the history of Mattituck and neighboring communities. Items of note include school attendance registers from Mattituck, 1913-1914; records of the Mattituck Library Association including circulation and accession books, 1903-1912, and materials on library history and pictures of activities at the library, 1957-1981. There are notes on Mattituck history by Edith Horton Young; copies of deeds of Horton family property in Mattituck, 1852-1892; a history of Mattituck by Jeffrey Doubrava, 1976; and material on Caroline M. "Dolly" Bell, a Mattituck painter, with photos of her paintings. Maps of Mattituck include copies of Sanborn maps, 1921, and a map of local businesses, 1949; videotapes show stores in Mattituck, and activities in the library, including a program on old hymns and songs, 1978-1980. A copy of a diary of David Halsey Hallock, 1855-1895, contains many references to life on the family farm in the town of Riverhead (now the site of Hallockville Farm Restoration), with references to the Franklinville Academy, and entries written at his brother Charles's farm in Smithtown, L.I.
